Hello Miss Ale,

This is the definition of typhoon and a tropical storm:
tropical storm: A tropical storm is an organized system of strong thunderstorms with a defined surface circulation and maximum sustained winds between 17 metres per second and 32 metres per second.
Typhoon:A tropical cyclone occurring in the western Pacific or Indian oceans.

I'm sorry I couldn't find anymore information.

See you on Monday,

Hello Miss Florence, I really liked this information about the typhoon and the tropical storm I never heard about them. I will give you now the definition of tropical storm and typhoon.
Tropical Storm:A ropical storm is an intense thunderstorm, categorized by extremely low pressure and cyclonic wind rotation, which usually develops in the tropics.
Typhoon: A Typhoon is a name used in east Asia for a Hurricane. It is a type of cyclone occurring in the western regions of the Pacific Ocean. A typhoon is similar to a hurricane in levels of destructiveness. The word typhoon comes from the Chinese term tai-fung meaning great wind.

Miss Florence,
Typhoons and Tropical storms both refer to the stomrm's strenght and where it is located.Typhoons, and tropical storms are kind of powerful oceanic storms known as cyclones. But the real differnece between tropical storms and typhoons is not very big but the place where the storm is hitting. We call a tropical storm when it is in America, and in Asia. Also the presure and the wind in the eye of storm. Well I hope I got it right. Delfina 6B

Hello Miss Florence, the definitions are the next ones:
A tropical cyclone: A storm system characterized by a large low-pressure center and numerous thunderstorms that produce strong winds and heavy rain.
A typhoon or tropical storm is a tropical cyclone that forms in the northwestern Pacific Ocean.
I read the site of what happens in another places its terrible! I feel very sorry for that people, they don´t even know when it is going to happen that again. There are a lot of families destroyed, I would like them to go to another place, where they are safe.
the blog is great...keep on posting
ps: I didn´t went to school, because I was ill.

Miss Florence thia are the difference beetween a tropical storm and a typhoons storms

tropical:A tropical cyclone is a storm system characterized by a large low pressure center and numerous thunderstorms that produce strong winds and heavy rain.
typhoons:The terms hurricane and typhoon are regionally specific names for a strong "tropical cyclone". A tropical cyclone is the generic term for a non frontal synoptic scale lowpressure system over tropical or sub tropical waters with organized convection.

hello Miss florence:
I think that the difference between a typhoon and a tropical storm is that: a tropical storm is a vey strong storm that also causes landslides. But the Typhoon is not a strong storm it is a estate of the climfate that has huricane winds, and a strong one csn touch the earth. ( All this information I took it from the story) bye sofi 6c

Hello Miss Florence,
Typhoon Storm: has the specific name for a strong "tropical cyclone", and a tropical cyclone is the generic term for a non-frontal synoptic scale low-pressure system over tropical or sub-tropical waters with organized convection . Info from :http://www.aoml.noaa.gov/hrd/tcfaq/A1.html
Tropical Storm: a severe storm that develops offshore over tropical seas with less than hurricane force winds but with the ability to develop into a hurricane
Info from: http://encarta.msn.com/dictionary_1861722123/tropical_storm.html

Difference: As a practical matter, there is no real difference between a hurricane and typhoon as I have been lucky (or unfortunate) enough to witness first-hand.
When it says because I had been lucky or unfortunate is the writter telling, not me!

Hope this information is enough
the blog is really cool

Hello Miss Florence,
I was really shock with the information so many people dying because of inundations and water illnesses. Here is the information you ask us to find:
A typhoon: is a tropical cyclone occurring in the western Pacific or Indian oceans.
A tropical storm: A cyclonic storm originating in the tropics and having winds ranging from 39 to 73 miles per hour (34 to 63 knots; 63 to 117 kilometers per hour).
Their differences and alikes:
Typhoons, and tropical storms are kinds of powerful oceanic storms known as cyclones. A cyclone is "An atmospheric closed circulation rotating counter-clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere," which is a little more specific than saying "a very big storm," but means the same thing. A cyclone is usually described as "tropical" because they form in the tropics within a few degrees of the Equator.
The differentnames "hurricane," "typhoon," and "tropical storm" all refer to the storm's strength and where it is located. The strength of the storm is based on the speed of its winds. "Sustained winds" are the constant wind speed over one minute's worth of measurement. A cyclone that has sustained winds of between 39 and 73 miles per hour is a tropical storm; less than that, it is referred to as a tropical depression, and storms with sustained winds higher than 74 miles an hour are hurricanes or typhoons. Hurricanes and typhoons are further rated on a scale of 1 to 5 depending on their strength; a Category 5 hurricane has sustained wind speeds of 155 miles an hour or more. Hurricanes occur in the Atlantic Ocean and the Eastern Pacific, while typhoons occur in the Western Pacific. Similar storms in the Indian Ocean are usually simply referred to as cyclones, although sometimes the most powerful ones will be called typhoons.
See you in school,
Jose G.M 6A

Hello Miss Florence, the definition is that:
Typhoons generally tend to be stronger than hurricanes, but only because there's warmer water in the western Pacific and are better conditions for storm development.
A tropical storm: A generally fairly small but intense, closed low-pressure system which develops over tropical oceans.
